I have been thinking about the art style that I want the game to have,
I’m a huge pixel art enthusiast and I have been enjoying drawing pixel art pieces for a long time, but when it comes to animations, dynamic lighting, or the use of Z-Axis in a 2D game, raw pixel art just didn’t cut it.
After some research I came across a great tutoria by Eduardo Schildt, where he uses a custom shader to make a 3D Map appear like the pixel art we all know and love, while maintaining all the benefits from 3D design.

This is the art style I will be using to develop this game in addition to raw pixel art here and there,
I have been drawing the first map of the game by hand until I found this tutorial, guess I will be rebuilding the whole thing in 3D now, still worth it.
I believe this approach will save a huge amount of time in designing, animating and giving the game a modern feel.
Hopefully, the next post will feature in-game footage for the first map.
